About Eduardo Chávez

I’m Eduardo Chávez, a filmmaker, storyteller, and author deeply shaped by the legacies of my grandfathers—civil rights leader César Chávez and Cuban revolutionary Max Lesnik. Their fight for justice and dignity has inspired me to explore how identity, heritage, and activism intersect in our lives.

In 2018, I released my feature documentary Hailing Cesar, a personal journey to connect with my grandfather César’s legacy and better understand my own identity.

Since its debut, I’ve screened the film and spoken at over 100 universities and 25 high schools across the country, using it as a way to spark conversations about culture, family, and social change.

My work continues to center identity and community. I co-founded Latindia Studios to tell stories that reflect the complexity of our cultures, and I host We Are Latinx, a podcast where I speak with guests about how their Latinx identity shapes their work, purpose, and lives.

In 2025, I'll be releasing my first children's book, Mi Abuelo César, a deeply personal project that introduces César Chávez's values to a new generation, while reflecting on the meaning of legacy and belonging.

Through film, media, and storytelling, I aim to explore who we are and how where we come from can guide where we're going.
